About the Program

The Certificate in Urban Health will introduce students to urban health concepts and practice techniques. Students will gain experience on how to be culturally competent public health professionals with an emphasis on built environment, healthy housing, and ecological concerns. Students will learn about the fundamentals of urban health and how to apply them to real-world problems.

The certificate is offered entirely online to provide qualified students and working professionals with an opportunity to acquire these credentials regardless of restrictions in time and physical location. Those who successfully complete the certificate program and wish to broaden their scope of public health education could pursue an MPH degree program.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Certificate in Urban Health program must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Working knowledge of and access to a PC, high-speed connection to Internet, and MS Office applications
  • Ability to download free versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader, Skype, and/or VSee teleconferencing applications
  • Demonstrated interest or work experience in public health
