NUPR 605 Quality Improvement: Applying Science to Improve Processes and Outcomes 2.5 Credits

The purpose of this course is to provide graduate students with the expertise necessary for leading and/or contributing to quality improvement projects within varying types of healthcare systems to enhance outcomes by improving processes and/or organizational structures and designs. Knowledge, skills and attitudes related to patient-centered care; teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety and informatics will be investigated. Reports, recommendations and evidence-driven toolkits will be reviewed and applied to select practice problems, including those available through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research and the Institute of Medicine.
