NUPR 673 PNP IV: Evidence-Based Management of Children with Special Health Care Needs in Primary Care 5.0 Credits

This course is designed to introduce students to the practice of the Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in managing the chronically ill children in an outpatient clinical setting. Emphasis is placed on the assessment, diagnosis and management of common chronic health problems in infants, children and adolescents in a primary care setting. Course content focuses on the management of patients with chronic illness. This course fosters the development of pediatric nurse practitioners in providing evidence-based clinical care through the integration of advanced diagnostic reasoning, advanced medical intervention, and advanced pharmacotherapeutic intervention. Faculty-supervised clinical practicum is required in this course.
