The post-baccalaureate certificate program in Community-based Librarianship accepts applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree. It provides an intellectual foundation and fundamental practical skills for paraprofessionals and professionals interested in user and community engagement and services, information and data services, digital technology services, and public and academic librarianship. The certificate program may also serve as an on-ramp to a Master of Science in Information Library and Information Science graduate major (an ALA accredited program) if completed with acceptable grade requirements.
The Community-based Librarianship certificate is supported in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) (https://www.imls.gov/grants/awarded/re-17-19-0006-19-0). In the first two years, six or more students will receive full tuition scholarships for the certificate.
