DPMS 503S Neurobiology of Mental Illness 3.5 Credits

This course is designed to introduce students to the neurobiological mechanisms underlying mental illness. Students will learn the structure and function of the cortical and limbic circuitry responsible for processing thought and emotion. They will learn the basics of psychiatric diagnosis and discuss various treatment strategies. Students will also be exposed to strategies for how research is conducted in the field of mental illness.
