About the Program

The Master of Science in Educational Improvement and Transformation prepares professionals to lead systemic change across educational, organizational, and policy contexts. Grounded in principles of equity, innovation, and evidence-based practice, the program develops expertise in leadership, systems thinking, and continuous improvement. Students engage with key concepts including education policy, learning sciences, creativity, data analytics, organizational development, and legal frameworks. Across multiple concentrations and embedded certificates, learners build competencies in strategic problem solving, data-informed decision-making, inclusive leadership, and ethical practice. The program emphasizes the values of access, equity, innovation, and social responsibility in transforming educational systems and outcomes.

Learning occurs through applied, interdisciplinary, and problem-based experiences that connect theory to practice. Students engage in case analyses, simulations, and project-based learning aligned with real-world challenges. Coursework includes designing creative solutions for change leadership, analyzing U.S. and global education policy, applying student development theory, and leading institutional assessment and accreditation processes. Students in learning-focused concentrations design learning environments, apply learning analytics and data storytelling, and integrate technology to improve outcomes. In neuroscience-focused coursework, students explore neuropedagogy, neurodiversity, and the science of learning to inform instructional and organizational design. Signature experiences include developing policy briefs, designing learning systems, applying analytics to diverse contexts, and leading coaching, mentoring, and change initiatives that produce measurable impact.

Graduates are prepared for leadership roles across PK–20 education, higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporate learning environments. Career pathways include roles such as educational leader, policy analyst, learning experience designer, institutional researcher, organizational development specialist, student success administrator, human resources personnel, and special education advocate. The program also provides a strong foundation for doctoral study in education, leadership, learning sciences, or public policy. Specialized concentrations allow graduates to align their expertise with evolving workforce demands and advance careers in areas such as workforce development, higher education, human resource, compliance, advocacy, and educational creativity and innovation.

Admission Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution: 
• Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (Graduate degree GPAs will be considered along with the undergraduate GPA); 
• A completed application; 
• Official transcripts from all universities or colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions (including trade schools) attended; 
• Two professional letters of recommendation; 
• Resume; 
• Personal Statement (500 - 750 words) describing your interest in the program. Specifically: How the program relates to your previous educational and professional activities, If changing course, why you’re moving in this new direction with your educational goals, How the program relates to your current line of work, How you plan to apply the program to your future goals;
