About the Program
The MS in Learning Sciences and Technologies program offers students a dynamic, interdisciplinary and practical educational experience designed to prepare them to be innovative thinkers considering the role of learning and technologies in our society. The program empowers students to translate contemporary research and practice related to the learning sciences and technologies into their own practice.
Designed for professionals who seek to tailor their studies to their interests, students can choose from three concentrations in high-demand fields of Learning Sciences, Learning Analytics, and Mind, Brain Learning. Grounded in the evolving and innovative field of the Learning Sciences, courses equip students with essential skills in applying learning theories, learning technologies, learning experience design, learning analytics and the neuroscience of learning. Students gain expertise through courses designed with innovative learning strategies. The program also examines ethical considerations and practical uses of digital data, learning sciences research, and learning technologies design. A distinctive feature of the MS curriculum is its emphasis on applied projects grounded in real-world applications, allowing students to address current and emerging challenges within their communities, lives, workplaces, and fields of study. Using practice-oriented criteria, students develop deliverables to utilize in a variety of settings. The project-based curriculum builds transferable skills, develops applied experience, and supports career, community, and professional advancement.
Graduates are prepared for roles in various educational fields and workplaces (i.e., curriculum designer, instructional designer, non-profit administrator, educational technologist). The certificate also positions learners for further graduate study (MS/EdD/PhD) in the learning sciences, instructional design, creativity or related fields. Artifacts developed in the program can support internal promotion, continuing professional development, and micro-credentialing or PD offerings.
Built on Drexel’s experiential learning model, this master’s program emphasizes putting theories and thinking into practice. Whether teaching, designing courses, leading teams, or facilitating organizational change, this program equips learners with the skills and knowledge to be successful.
