About the Program
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) in Mind, Brain & Learning prepares educators, trainers, and organizational leaders to translate research from the learning sciences, Mind, Brain, and Education Science, and educational neuroscience into inclusive, actionable practice. Designed for professionals seeking to deepen their expertise at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and education, students gain expertise in neuropedagogy, neurovariability, and the cognitive processes that underpin attention, memory, creativity, motivation, and learning. The curriculum integrates Universal Design for Learning (UDL), assessment design, and research-informed instructional strategies to support innovative and equitable learning experiences. The certificate examines how stress and emotion influence creativity, learning, performance, and change. Students also engage in practical applications of AI and examine associated ethical considerations. This applied certificate combines theory and evidence-based practice with applied coursework and experiential learning to inform and support teaching, training, instructional design, and organizational change. This applied certificate combines theory and evidence-based practice with applied coursework and experiential learning.
A distinctive feature of the PBC in Mind, Brain & Learning is its emphasis on applied projects that align with real-world contexts and individual career goals. Using practice-oriented criteria, students develop deliverables for use in educational and workplace settings. Course projects can support publications and presentations, inform workshop design and evaluation, generate portfolio artifacts, and produce practitioner toolkits and applied instructional materials. The project-based curriculum builds transferable skills, develops applied experience, and supports career and professional advancement.
Graduates are prepared for a range of careers as educators (teachers, professors, adjunct instructors, instructional coaches, advisors), instructional designers, corporate trainers, learning officers, human-resources trainers, educational consultants, and learning engineers across sectors including PK–12 and higher education, state and government agencies, consulting agencies, corporations, nonprofit and healthcare organizations, and entrepreneurial ventures. The certificate also positions learners for further graduate study.
The PBC in Mind, Brain & Learning builds on Drexel’s experiential learning model by integrating applied translational research with practice to catalyze measurable real-world impact. As part of the Drexel Advantage, the MBL program prepares graduates to design and implement dynamic, evidence-based learning experiences, foster creativity and innovation, and lead inclusive initiatives that advance teaching, training, instructional design, and organizational practice across educational and workplace environments.
