About the Program

The online Certificate in Public Health provides students with a foundational knowledge of public health and with key competencies outlined by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in eight domains: (1) evidence-based approaches to public health, (2) public health and health care systems, (3) planning and management to promote health, (4) policy in public health, (5) leadership, (6) communication, (7) interprofessional practice and/or intersectoral practice, and (8) systems thinking.

The certificate is offered entirely online to provide qualified students and working professionals with an opportunity to participate in this program regardless of restrictions in time and physical location. Those who successfully complete the certificate program and wish to broaden their scope of public health education could pursue an MPH or MS degree and apply some or all credits to that program.

Foundational Public Health Knowledge: Public Health Foundations is only required for students who do not have a degree from a CEPH accredited school. Students who have a degree from a CEPH accredited school will take an elective in place of Public Health Foundations
