About the Program
Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health’s asynchronous, online MPH in Urban Health trains students in the foundational principles of urban health research and practice. This includes how to assess and monitor the health of urban populations, understand drivers of urban health and health inequities, identify and evaluate policies and interventions to improve urban heath, and engage with multiple partners in improving urban health.
Urban Health MPH graduates have gone onto careers in public health departments, health care organizations, pharmaceuticals, non-profit organizations, higher education, and doctoral programs.

Foundational Public Health Knowledge: Public Health Foundations is only required for students who do not have a degree from a CEPH accredited school. Students who have a degree from a CEPH accredited school will take an elective in place of Public Health Foundations.

Students can take additional 5000-9999 level electives across the university with Program Director approval.
Students may be able to use elective credits to further focus their academic work by coupling a DSPH graduate certificate. Students must have enough applicable elective credits to complete the certificate program without going beyond the required credits for the program. Students can contact their academic advisor for more information.

- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming, and software, as appropriate

- Identify and describe the structural and systemic drivers of urban health inequities and identify the types of multisectoral urban policies or interventions that could be used to eliminate urban health inequities.
- Describe how various urban policies can impact health and health equity in urban areas, including urban planning and development, housing, transportation, environmental, and food policies, among others.
- Identify the study designs and basic analytical methods that can be used to evaluate the health and equity impacts of urban policies.
