Minor in Astrophysics
About the Minor
Astrophysics brings together many disparate areas of physics: gravitational physics that govern the evolution of galaxies and clusters, nuclear physics that dominate the cores of stars, and electromagnetism that governs the radiation that we use to observe these objects. This minor aims to expose students to the fascinating physics that comes out of this combination of topics and would easily complement any other discipline from mathematics, computer science, engineering, and other sciences.
Admissions Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
