Minor in Biological Sciences

About the Minor

The minor in Biological Sciences is designed for students who wish to become acquainted with the life sciences while pursuing a major in another area. This option should be particularly useful for students majoring in areas such as chemistry, engineering, physics, or psychology who are interested in admission to medical schools or graduate programs. Students interested in the minor should consult with an academic advisor in the department for help with course selections.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.

Select two Biology elective courses from any of the regularly offered Biology Department lecture courses 2000-level and above according to specific interests. BIO 2226, BIO 2242, BIO 4998, BIO 4999 and will not count towards the Biology elective. Note that existing course prerequisites may affect which courses may be selected.
