Minor in Chemistry
About the Minor
The Chemistry Minor provides students with a solid foundation in the real-world applications of analytical, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. These disciplines equip students with the scientific basis that supports a wide range of careers, including pharmaceutical, healthcare, food, cosmetics, environmental protection, materials science, biotechnology, electronics, energy, and patent law. Students complete 20-28 credits of chemistry courses, including at least one separate laboratory course. For many STEM majors, some of the chemistry courses required for their major will also count towards the Chemistry Minor. The Chemistry Minor can help students to broaden their scientific perspective and add valuable experimental skills.
Admissions Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
