Minor in History

About the Minor

The history minor allows students in other majors to explore the historical background of their disciplines, to better understand the origins of the contemporary world, to build the knowledge and skills needed to understand the development of human societies over time, and to understand historical episodes in their proper contexts.

The minor in history is highly flexible and allows students to choose those history courses which appeal to them and which will best contribute to their broader education. History majors may not choose this minor.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
