Minor in Psychology

About the Minor

The minor in Psychology is designed to provide students with a broad overview of the field's diversity and to meet the needs of students interested in incorporating psychological processes as a key component of their education. Students in the minor learn how to ask and answer important questions regarding human behavior, cognition, and emotion to complement their major. This minor may be a relevant course of study for students pursuing pre-med, pre-law, biology, and business curricula, as well as students interested in the application of psychology in the real-world.

No more than three courses that are required for a student’s major can count towards fulfilling requirements for this minor. Students interested in this minor are expected to meet with the department's Academic Advisor to discuss the selection of courses appropriate to their major and their own personal interests.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
