Minor in Mathematical Statistics

About the Minor

The minor in mathematical statistics is designed to give students a solid foundation in the techniques of probability, inference, and data analysis. Elective courses build on these core skills to provide students with a deeper understanding of an area of their choosing. The knowledge and experience gained through these courses will ensure that students are well equipped to perform the statistical analyses required across a variety of disciplines and industries.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
