About the Minor

The rapidly evolving technology of generative AI impacts scholarship and learning, information environments, work practices, and even human relations.

The Writing and AI minor provides a foundational understanding of writing as a social activity along with practice using AI for writing and communication. Students learn about and evaluate generative AI technology to better understand its effects on writing, writers, and our relationship with information. Students gain the ability to use AI thoughtfully, effectively, and transparently.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
