Minor in Writing Science Stories
About the Minor
People share stories about science to inform and explain, to advocate and persuade, and even to warn.
The Writing Science Stories minor—open to all students interested in writing and communication and especially suited to those in STEM fields—helps students use writing to shape their audience’s understanding and awareness of scientific topics and issues.
Students gain the ability to communicate better within their disciplines as well as to craft compelling, impactful writing for audiences beyond their disciplines.
Admissions Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
