About the Program
Students in the General Business major develop versatile business knowledge and competencies that prepare them for success across a diverse spectrum of organizations and industries. The program provides breadth rather than deep specialization, allowing students to build foundational skills in management, marketing, finance, operations, and strategic thinking while maintaining flexibility to explore multiple business disciplines. Graduates cultivate analytical reasoning, professional communication, ethical judgment, and adaptability—skills essential for navigating dynamic business environments.
Students learn through discussion-based classes that emphasize active engagement with business concepts and collaborative problem-solving. The curriculum integrates case studies, team projects, and applied assignments that connect theory to practice. Students may choose a minor or create a personalized specialization in consultation with academic advisors and faculty, tailoring their coursework to align with individual career interests and goals. Signature learning experiences include practicum courses and consulting projects where students address real organizational challenges.
Graduates of the General Business major pursue careers across industries including operations, project management, sales, marketing, human resources, and entrepreneurship. The program's breadth provides strong preparation for roles that require cross-functional business understanding. Students are also well positioned for graduate study in business, management, or related fields.
The General Business major leverages Drexel's experiential learning model, integrating classroom learning with professional experience. Through cooperative education (Co-op), students gain up to 18 months of full-time work experience with employers across the greater Philadelphia region and beyond. The program is housed within the AACSB-accredited LeBow College of Business, ensuring academic rigor and industry relevance. This combination of flexible curriculum, experiential learning, and professional engagement prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully from day one in their careers.
