About the Program

Marketing majors build a strong foundation in understanding markets, customers, and organizations from a customer-centered perspective. Graduates develop the ability to analyze consumer behavior, identify market opportunities, and design value propositions that align customer needs with organizational goals. The program cultivates competencies in strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, digital and AI-enabled marketing, branding, communications, and sales management. Beyond technical skills, students explore marketing's broader role in society, examining how marketing shapes social norms and impacts communities. Coursework emphasizes ethical decision making, equity, sustainability, and purpose-driven business practices.

Students learn marketing through a dynamic, applied curriculum that integrates theory with real-world practice. Courses span marketing strategy, advertising and integrated marketing communications, customer analytics, digital and content marketing, global marketing, and new product development. Experiential learning is central to the program—students participate in simulations, consulting projects, team-based strategy work, and hands-on campaign development. Many projects involve real organizations including businesses, nonprofits, and community groups, allowing students to address marketing challenges with social and ethical dimensions. Students may access Drexel's Behavioral Lab to conduct consumer research using eye-tracking and biometric technologies.

Graduates pursue careers in brand and product management, digital marketing, analytics, advertising, sales, customer insights, content strategy, and entrepreneurship. Emphasis on responsible marketing prepares students for roles in nonprofits, healthcare, education, the public sector, and purpose-driven organizations, as well as advanced graduate study.

Drexel's experiential learning model emphasizes applied, career-relevant learning. Through cooperative education (Co-op), immersive projects, and engagement with industry leaders, students graduate with strategic mindset and practical experience. Courses feature guest lectures from industry professionals, creating opportunities to gain insight and build professional connections. Graduates understand marketing as a discipline with the power to influence social behavior and promote ethical, inclusive practices—preparing them for organizational success and positive social impact.
