Minor in Accounting

About the Minor

The Accounting minor develops knowledge of financial and managerial accounting, financial reporting, cost analysis, and foundational taxation concepts. Students learn to interpret financial statements, analyze transactions, evaluate performance, and apply accounting standards to business decisions. Emphasis is placed on analytical reasoning, quantitative precision, ethical judgment, and attention to detail—skills essential for financial stewardship across industries. Through applied coursework, students work with real-world financial data, case analyses, and structured problem-solving exercises that mirror professional practice. Advanced electives allow students to deepen technical competence and strengthen financial literacy in ways that complement a wide range of majors.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
