Minor in Business Analytics

About the Minor

The Business Analytics minor introduces students to the core skills needed to work with data in a business setting. Students learn how data is collected and structured, how to clean and prepare messy datasets, and how to organize and access data. They develop programming skills for analyzing data and gain experience investigating patterns and trends through visualization and dashboards. Coursework also emphasizes statistical reasoning and interpretation of analytics results. Students complete hands-on projects that move from raw data to analysis and recommendation. The minor complements any major where interpreting and using data is increasingly central by giving students the ability to work directly with data rather than relying on reports produced by others

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
