Minor in Architectural Engineering

About the Minor

The Architectural Engineering minor, designed to broaden the professional capabilities of students, focuses on the building systems portion of the architectural engineering curriculum. Pursuing a minor in architectural engineering can be of interest to mechanical engineering students who wish to learn the application of HVAC systems within the building context; to civil engineering students who require knowledge of large-scale infrastructure systems; and to chemical engineering students who wish to understand the energy and distribution aspects of process plant design. While this minor is primarily designed to provide technical knowledge and skills to other engineers with the appropriate prerequisites, students from other disciplines—such as architecture—can also complete this minor.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
