Minor in Civil Engineering
About the Minor
The Civil Engineering minor, designed to broaden the professional capabilities of students, addresses fundamental knowledge in four different engineering disciplines - geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources. For example, pursuing a minor in civil engineering can be of interest to construction management students who require better understanding of large-scale civil infrastructure design. While this minor is designed to provide technical knowledge and skills to other engineers, with the appropriate prerequisites students from disciplines other than engineering can also complete this minor.
Admissions Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
