About the Minor

The minor in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics provides a clear, scaffolded path from fundamentals to focused depth. Students complete a foundational core, choose 2–4 intermediate courses aligned with interests (e.g., mechanics, dynamics or thermal‑fluid systems), then pursue advanced electives in areas such as aerospace, design, controls and robotics, energy and sustainability, or product development. Prerequisites are mapped transparently across lists so students can plan coherent pathways that balance flexibility with rigor and preparation for industry or graduate study.

Admissions Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
