About the Program

The Entrepreneurship major prepares students to design, test, launch, and scale new ventures and innovation initiatives in uncertain, fast-changing environments. Students learn how to move from ideas to action by combining entrepreneurial judgment with disciplined analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and ethical responsibility. The program emphasizes entrepreneurship as a practical capability—one that requires curiosity, resilience, creativity, and accountability, as well as the ability to evaluate trade-offs and execute under real constraints.

The Entrepreneurship major emphasizes learning by doing. Students apply classroom concepts through hands-on, venture-focused experiences that reflect real-world entrepreneurial challenges. Drexel's cooperative education (Co-op) program allows students to spend up to 18 months in full-time professional roles, often within startups, growth-stage firms, or innovation teams, where they gain firsthand experience with venture operations, scaling decisions, and organizational problem-solving. Signature experiences include participation in venture pitch competitions, startup simulations, and mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and investors, providing students with practical exposure to the full lifecycle of venture creation.

Graduates of the Entrepreneurship major pursue careers as founders, venture operators, innovation managers, consultants, and growth or product leaders across a wide range of industries. Others apply their entrepreneurial skill set within established organizations seeking innovation and new business development. The program also provides strong preparation for graduate study, including advanced business or innovation-focused degrees.

What sets the Entrepreneurship major apart is its focus on execution at scale. Students gain not only an entrepreneurial mindset, but also the analytical and operational capabilities required to build sustainable ventures. Drexel's nationally recognized Co-op program, applied curriculum, and strong connections to industry ensure graduates enter the workforce with meaningful experience, practical confidence, and a competitive edge in today's innovation-driven economy.
