Minor in Construction Management
About the Minor
The Minor in Construction Management provides students with foundational knowledge of construction processes, project management principles, and the built environment. The minor introduces students to key areas, including project planning, scheduling, estimating, construction methods, safety, and sustainability, while emphasizing collaboration, communication, and problem-solving within the construction industry. Designed to complement a variety of academic disciplines, the minor prepares students to engage with construction-related projects and interdisciplinary teams across the architecture, engineering, business, and built environment sectors.
Students in architecture, architectural studies, interior design, civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, architectural engineering, business, and several related majors may select to pursue construction management as a minor area of study. Because construction is inherently related to design in many of these disciplines, the construction management minor can be a natural extension of their field of study.
Admission Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
