Minor in Music Studies
About the Minor
The Music Studies minor offers a flexible curriculum focused on music as a form of cultural expression. Students choose courses from two broad categories: practice/making and history/culture. This minor provides students with the opportunity to pursue their musical interests and develop skills in critical thinking and cross-cultural communication. These skills are relevant to any career objective and complement the knowledge gained in a student’s major.
Admission Requirements
Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
