Minor in Photography

About the Minor 

The Minor in Photography enables students from any major to develop a knowledge and skill set in the practice of photography. The minor consists of two required courses, Digital Photography I and II, and 9 additional credits from a select menu of courses that cover the multifaceted discipline and art of photography. The flexible structure of the minor allows students the ability to chart their own path within the medium from a fine art to an applied focus.

The unique design of the curriculum encourages the development of technical proficiency in photography, while also nurturing a personal photographic vision. Students with a strong personal vision are encouraged to complete the minor with a Capstone Portfolio course which results in the production of an exhibition/publication/website ready portfolio.

Admission Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
