Minor in Somatics

About the Minor

The somatics minor focuses on the philosophical, cultural, and scientific study of the soma—the body as experienced from within—while offering practical applications of somatic practices in everyday life. This minor includes fitness, strength, and alignment training, as well as mindfulness, meditation, and community-based wellness practices. These courses offer opportunities to develop skills to cultivate balance, enhance resilience, and increase self-awareness through a deep connection with movement and other embodied experience.

Admission Requirements

Students are required to declare a major before declaring a minor. Students admitted directly into a specific major at the time of matriculation may declare a minor beginning in their second semester. All requirements for the minor must be completed either concurrently with or prior to the completion of the primary major requirements. This ensures that students fulfill the expectations of their primary field of study while completing any additional areas of academic specialization.
