About the Program
The Westphal College of Media Arts & Design offers an Undecided Design and Undecided Media & Entertainment first-year pathway that allows incoming first-year students to explore the wide range of Westphal’s academic programs. The Undecided Design and Undecided Media & Entertainment plans of study are designed as points of entry for prospective students who know they want to study creative disciplines at Westphal and are not yet sure which of our undergraduate programs is right for them. These options give students the ability to enroll in their first year at Westphal and take fall semester courses that will help them formally declare their major by the end of the spring semester of year one.
Students enrolled in either of the two Westphal Undecided pathways will meet with their academic advisor to discuss their major choice during the fall and spring semester as needed. As part of the plan of study, they’ll be enrolled in a custom-designed course that requires them to sit in on classes in our various majors. These classes are required for our majors and serve as an introduction to them. Students will also be able to choose from a list of courses (requirements and/or electives) that fall under either the design or media & entertainment categories. This gives students the opportunity to explore classes in specific programs of interest. At the end of the spring semester of the first academic year, each student will declare their major program. Placement is subject to meeting the program's requirements and space availability.
The Bachelor of Architecture and Music Industry Programs are not pathways from the Westphal Undecided plan of study due to space constraints.
