Courses

MMSP 501S Research in Medical Science I 6.0 Credits

Research in Medical Science is a two-semester sequence that partners with MMSP-503S and MMSP-504S to extend and enrich the research experience for second year MMS students. Students will engage in original, hands-on research under the guidance of a mentor scientist. A Research Proposal will be developed in collaboration with the Research Mentor and submitted for timely review and approval to the Oversight Committee, comprising faculty within the Graduate School. Once approved, the student will pursue the research project proposed under the direct supervision of their research mentor.

MMSP 505S Introduction to Biomedical Research 2.0 Credits

Introduction to Biomedical Research is a 2-credit research course that permits the MMS student to extend their research experience under the tutelage of their research mentor. Fall-starting students would be able to begin their research experience in the spring of their first year. Spring-start MMS students would be able to begin their research experience fall of their second semester. The course provides students with a structured, but limited, introduction to their lab of choice. The student can use this time to develop their research proposal and begin learning necessary techniques required for their research studies.
