ABA 6370 Behaviorism: History, Theory, and Philosophy 3.0 Credits

This course introduces students to the philosophy of behaviorism, theoretical approaches to understanding behavior, and the history and principles of behavior analysis as a science. Students will learn to distinguish between mentalism and different forms of behaviorism, and interpret behavior through the lens of a radical behaviorism worldview. Additional topics will guide students to effectively evaluate competing theoretical perspectives, and apply conceptual frameworks to professional practice using behavior analytic theory and philosophical assumptions.
