ACCT 5110 Accounting for Managers 3.0 Credits

The course introduces and builds on accounting fundamentals that managers need to understand the organizations they are managing. The class will cover topics on how financial information is reported to external users (financial accounting) and the analysis needed to make management decision (managerial accounting). The course is designed to build understanding of the primary financial statements by developing intuition on the economic events that are recorded in those statements. The course also focuses on how financial and non-financial data are gathered and analyzed for internal users. Students are exposed to the basics of valuation, time value of money, and decision-making tools like budgets and performance evaluation models. The class focuses on the use of both quantitative and qualitative information.
