AFAS 2002 Cross Currents in Africana Studies 3.0 Credits
This course explores the African Diaspora—global communities of people of African descent living outside Africa. Students examine key histories, theories, concepts, and research methods useful for studying the origins and development of the diaspora alongside the cultural, intellectual, and historical contributions of African diasporic peoples to global knowledge. By the end, students will strengthen their oral communication skills by critically discussing ideas that challenge traditional views of Africa and its diaspora, using clear organization, evidence, effective language, and purposeful delivery for diverse audiences.
