AFAS 2069 Africana Education 3.0 Credits
Africana Education examines the development of educational ideas, institutions, and practices among people of African descent from ancient Africa to the present. Topics, among others, include access to education, literacy movements, segregation and apartheid, curriculum debates, and the contributions of Africana educators and intellectuals to emancipatory education and consciousness. Through historical inquiry and critical analysis, the course aims for deeper understanding of how education has shaped Africana identities and continues to influence struggles today.
