ARCH 1101 The Architectural Design Process 3.0 Credits
This course explores how buildings become architecture. Through a case study format, students revisit influential works of world architecture, their design process from programmatic purpose to design concept, to material detail. This includes constructing drawings and models to learn about the work of the architect by emulating that work. Topics include building technologies, representational methods, environmental impacts, cultural contexts, and human experience. The course introduces the profession, its roles, and its making processes for students in adjacent fields or interested in pursuing the major.
