ARCH 3420 History and Theory of Modern Architecture 3.0 Credits
This lecture course presents major works of architecture, and their associated theoretical concepts, from the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The course addresses the Western context (Europe and the United States), as well as the global history of Modernism by considering its spread into Asia, South America, and Africa through trans-national processes such as colonialism and globalization, as well its indigenous development there. The class includes primary source readings, as well as both lectures and discussion sessions, as well as written exams and essay assignments.
