ARCH 3630 Architectural Lighting Design 3.0 Credits
This course develops knowledge and skills to design effective, healthy, and efficient luminous environments. Students study visual perception and color, basic light measures, day-lighting principles, electric lighting types, and lighting controls, as well as comfort, task performance, and well-being. The course situates lighting within envelope, structure, and mechanical coordination to support integrated design. Learning formats include short lectures, readings, case studies, field measurements, and simulation exercises. Expected work includes analyses, mock-ups, drawings, and coordinated details with written and visual presentations.
