BLV 5331 Principles of Orientation and Mobility 2 3.0 Credits

This course provides opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in assessment and instructional aspects of Orientation and Mobility. Learning activities and assignments prepare students to understand the transition from assessment to instruction; identify and compare mobility systems other than the long cane; explore orientation aids and technology; develop map making skills; modify traditional O&M techniques for individuals from different age groups; and understand of the impact of additional disabilities and chronic medical conditions on the O&M instructional process. The course is mostly online with an in-person residency requirement.
