BMES 5652 Bioinformatics: Transcriptomics and Functional Genomics 3.0 Credits
This course focuses on computational methods for analyzing transcriptomic and functional genomics data, emphasizing regulatory and biological insight from high‑dimensional molecular measurements. Students work with microarray, miRNA, bulk and single‑cell RNA‑Seq, and epigenetic datasets to perform normalization, differential expression analysis, clustering, dimensionality reduction, and visualization. Machine‑learning approaches support classification, feature selection, biomarker discovery, and drug‑repositioning analyses. Through hands‑on programming and project‑based work using disease genomics and clinical datasets, the course highlights functional and regulatory mechanisms in complex biological systems. Students also engage in review and presentation of cutting‑edge research.
Repeat Status: Not repeatable for credit
