BST 8017 Statistical Collaboration in Team Science 3.0 Credits

The objective of this course is to introduce graduate students to the fundamentals of statistical collaboration and to prepare them to be effective team scientists. The course focuses on helping students translate their technical training into the “statistical expert” role commonly assumed in collaborative settings with non-quantitative researchers. Topics include understanding the roles and responsibilities of biostatisticians in collaborative research, ping oral and written communication skills, recognizing how study design informs data management and analysis plans, collaborating with researchers in refining broad scientific questions into measurable aims, and developing scopes of work and cost/effort estimates for biostatistical collaboration.
