CATX 4535 Assessment, Theories and Treatment Planning in Art Therapy 3.0 Credits

This course introduces students to the historical foundations, theoretical frameworks, and evolving professional identity of art therapy, with attention to its relationship to allied fields and the continuum of art therapy practice. Students examine assessment approaches and treatment planning through the application of creativity, symbolism, metaphor, and artistic language in work with individuals, groups, and communities across diverse cultural contexts. Emphasis is placed on integrating theory, case material, and clinical reasoning to inform ethical and effective art therapy practice.
