This upper level graduate course is a team-taught lecture-based course on the biology of cancer including: transformation, oncogenes and suppressor genes, cell cycle, DNA damage/repair, cell signaling, oncogenesis, metastasis, and cancer therapies. Faculty from Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Wistar Institute will participate in the teaching. The purpose of the course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the principles of cancer biology. It has been designed to introduce students to the advanced concepts of cancer biology and latest conceptual, technical and therapeutic advances. The emphasis in this course is to convey the history and fundamentals of the topics to prepare students for CBIO 512S. This course is intended for second year graduate students interested in basic cancer research.
