CHP 5000 Public Health Systems and Practice 3.0 Credits
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the systems, practices, and values that define the field of public health. Students will explore how historical context, ethical frameworks, and the determinants of health inform public health structures and responses. The course examines foundational skills for translating knowledge into practice through public health communication, advocacy, policy, and leadership. Through applied case studies, collaborative labs and individual written assignments, students will develop skills in systems thinking, evidence-based decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and public health preparedness. Assignments are designed to strengthen students’ ability to engage with diverse populations, apply policy frameworks, and lead effectively in public health contexts.
