CHP 8000 Theory and Practice of Community Health and Prevention 3.0 Credits

This course introduces students to theories, scientific methods, research issues, and interventions in community health and prevention. Major theoretical approaches to community health are discussed, including behavioral, social, cultural, and communication-based approaches. An ecological model of health is presented, with an emphasis on behavioral and social determinants of health. Key public health concerns are studied and placed in the context of theoretical approaches to community health and intervention design.
