CHP 8003 Measuring Health 3.0 Credits
Robust measurement is the foundation of public health. This course is designed to help students understand the utility of health measures, critically evaluate and select among them, and develop new instruments for research, evaluation, population monitoring, and policy purposes. Fundamental theories of measurement are examined alongside the qualitative and quantitative approaches commonly used in scale development. Students will analyze existing measures with a focus on their validity and reliability and learn the methodological steps to construct new scales when available tools are insufficient.
