CIVE 3110 Geotechnical Engineering 4.0 Credits

This course provides an overview of geotechnical engineering and soil behavior (e.g., index, mechanical, and hydraulic properties of soils through theory and laboratory measurements). Topics include exploration methods and soil profile preparation, soil identification and classification, description and modification of three phase particulate (air, water, and solids) and void descriptions and modification, compaction and earth work control, laminar flow of liquids based on Darcy’s law, and an introduction to consolidation settlement and shear strength of soils.
