COM 6010 Professional Communication Research 3.0 Credits
This course introduces students to foundational research concepts and methodologies used in the communication discipline. Students will learn to analyze, evaluate and communicate scholarly research while applying research methods commonly used by industry practitioners. Through readings and project-based assignments, students will design surveys, plan focus groups to evaluate public opinion, analyze media content for trends, and assess the effectiveness of strategic communication efforts. The course emphasizes the strategic role of research in the communication industry as well as the professional communication of research scope, methods and findings.
