CS 3240 Computer Networks 3.0 Credits

This course explores how the Internet and modern networks function using the TCP/IP model. Students study application-layer protocols like HTTP/2, HTTP/3, and QUIC, transport-layer mechanisms including TCP congestion control, network-layer routing (OSPF, BGP), and link-layer technologies. The course covers protocol design, standardization, and evolution, as well as modern topics such as SDN, network virtualization, CDNs, and cloud networking. Hands-on labs with Wireshark and router configurations develop practical skills for analyzing and troubleshooting networks.
